Artist’s Statement
I come from a family of artists and painters. Although I have drawn and painted my entire life, I studied with David Hardy in the early nineties in classical realism and painted in that style for many years. David gave me such a great foundation in classical drawing and painting that I am grateful for that strict training. Also I am a great admirer of my uncle, John E. Lynch's art (1914- 2001). To honor him I decided to begin a series of abstracts that continued a style that he originated. Although many of my pieces are inspired by natural landscapes, I try to push the edges of my craft with color combinations, textures and patterns. Lately I have been assembling larger collages. I have found the process both challenging and rewarding at the same time.
